US President Donald Trump has banned 4 Indian companies. The United States has imposed sanctions on a total of 16 companies involved in Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical industries, including four Indian companies. The move is part of the US administration’s campaign to further tighten banned on Iran.
According to a statement issued by the US Department of Finance, the four Indian companies that have been banned are Austinship Management Private Limited, BSM Marine LLP, Cosmos Lines Inc. and Flux Maritime LLP. However, there is no statutory response from India regarding this restriction. India has good relations with both Iran and the US, but this move could harm Indian companies.
The US State Department said the companies were banned because of their business ties to Iran’s petroleum and petrochemical industries. The United States has said it is trying to dismantle Iran’s illegal transportation network, which is active in selling Iranian oil to countries in Asia. It is said that this step was taken by the US administration to impose restrictions on Iran’s economic activities and to prevent financing of terrorism.
