1. RBI urged ₹2000 currency note holder to deposit and /or exchange the notes.

2. RBI has asked all banks to provide deposit and /or exchange facility for ₹2000 notes by September 30,2023

3. ₹2000 was introduced in November 2016 under sections 24(1)of RBI Act, 1934.

4. ₹2000 introduced primarily to meet the currency requirements of the economy after withdrawal of legal tender status of all ₹500and ₹1000 notes in circulation at that time.

5. RBI stopped the printing of ₹2000 in 2018-19.
