What is an ATM Card?
Every banks in India issued an ATM card to their account holder after opening a bank account. ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine. You can insert this ATM card at any ATM machine in order to perform certain transactions like withdrawing money, checking your balance, sending money etc. You can not only use your ATM card on ATM machine but you can also use it for card payments like online shopping, swapping your card at any shop etc.
An ATM Card Consists Of :-
- 16-digit number that is your debit or ATM card number.
- The name of the account holder
- The expiry date of the card. After the expiry date you are not able to do any kind of transection using your card
- It has a 3-digit CVV number at the back side. That is the Credit Verification Value number for security purposes. During any card payments you need to enter this number.
- A magnetic chip on the back or front side of the card contains all information about the account holder.
How to Use an ATM Card in ATM Machine?
- To use your ATM card, go to the nearest ATM machine irrespective of the bank. You can do the transactions from any bank ATM.
- Insert your ATM card in the space provided in the ATM machine. If you don’t understand where to insert your card, then you should check the space where a light usually blinks near it when it is ready to take a new card. It also generally marked by an arrow.
- When you insert your ATM card make sure card is inserted through the side with the bank logo and chip. If you insert the card wrongly, then ATM is not able to read your card and the display screen will indicates that you are not inserted your card properly.
- After the ATM server recognizes the data, then you can proceed with the transaction.
- After that ATM screen displays the steps to perform a transaction. First you will be required to select the language as per your convenience
- Mostly there is a speaker in ATMs to give audio feedback and guide you through the transaction process.
- Then, you have to enter your 4 digit PIN by using the keypad. Remember, entering a wrong PIN may block your ATM Card.
- After that you have to choose the transaction type from different options such as Withdraw Money, Balance Enquiry, Deposit Money, Bill Pay, and others.
- You have to choose the Withdraw Money option, in case you want to withdraw cash.
- Then, you need to select the account type either current or savings or any other.
- Next, enter the amount by pressing the keypad and pressing ok/enter to withdraw money. But one thing you have keep your mind before entering the amount that you should have sufficient balance available in the account.
- Finally, collect the money and withdrawal receipt. Receipt is the proof of the transaction and it also contains the account balance after withdrawal.
- If you want, you can also avoid the printed slip and get your withdrawl information through SMS in your registered mobile number.
- After complete your transaction make sure to end the session by pressing the cancel/cross button.
