Digitization exposes 58 million fake ration cards. Reforms in public distribution system. The central government has taken special steps to systematize the public distribution system in the country and one of them is the digitization system. Every state of the country has implemented this system.
5.8 Crore Fake Ration Card Users Identifed & Removed Through Digitization
All ration card holders under general distribution have been linked with Aadhaar card. With Aadhaar authentication and KYC, all the information about the user is digitized and it is easy to know whether they are real beneficiaries or fake. Currently there are 80.6 crore users in the country under this system. Through Digitization 5.8 crore fake users to be identified and their names are removed from the list. As a result, the actual user is getting benefits under common distribution and revenue wastage has stopped.
According to Union Food Ministry data, 20.4 crore ration cards have been digitized across the country. 99.7 percent of these cards have been linked with Aadhaar. 98.7 percent of their cardholders are being verified through biometric authentication. 5.33 lakh convenience stores across the country are using e-POS devices. Food items are being distributed to users through Aadhaar authentication through this device.
Digitization Helps to Prevent Smuggling or Manipulation
Digitization is not limited to consumer distribution systems. The Food Corporation of India is also implementing digitization extensively in food supply. The use of digitization in many areas such as inventory of food products stored in warehouses, distribution of goods to various distributors, tracking of cargo, etc. prevents any kind of smuggling or manipulation.
According to the One Nation One Ration Card scheme, the user can get the convenience of buying ration from anywhere in the country. Due to this, the food safety system in the country has become very strong and fake users have been removed from the list.
