Google Maps is the most feature-rich navigation app on both Android and iOS platforms. Google always added it’s new features to improve the user experience specially for phone users. Google is gearing up to launch its several new updates for Maps in the coming months. Immersive View, Neighborhood Vibe and Search with Live View are the upcoming features of Google maps. Company said that these new features are efforts to build a visual-first Maps experience to help users navigate the world more naturally.
Immersive View
The upcoming Immersive View feature, which is designed to help you plan ahead, before you visit a city you can get a deeper understanding of a city. Immersive view leverages a combination of computer vision and AI technology to fusing advanced aerial imagery of the world and its predictive models to offer a 3D view, weather, traffic, how busy the nearby streets and restaurants are, and more will be like on a given day and time. With this feature users can explore by visually an area to see what it may look like. Glide down to street level to see how busy nearby restaurants will be on that given day. Using predictive modeling, Immersive view automatically learns historical trends to determine what an area will be like tomorrow, next week or even next month. You can use Immersive View to see where the parking lots and entrances are, and also see what the weather will be like so you can dress accordingly. Immersive View will be launching in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo in the coming months on Android and iOS and in future it will add more cities said by Google.
Neighborhood Vibe
Neighborhood Vibe, feature is designed to give users the ability to instantly see the vibe of any neighborhood through photos and information from the Google Maps community. It will instantly shows you the trendy places to highlight what is interesting about your neighborhood. Through this feature you can see your neighborhood and decide how you want to spend your time there.
Search with Live View
The new Search with Live View feature lets you use your camera to find essential places like shops, ATMs and restaurants when you’re on the go. If you are going to an unfamiliar place and want to find the nearest ATM, then you can use your camera and search instantly to see the ATMs in that area. This feature that overlays arrows and directions right on top of your view of the world. You can see the coffee shops, grocery stores and transit stations. Along with this you can see the business hours of a place that is down the street. Search with Live View will be rolling out in London, New York, Paris, San Francisco and Tokyo in the coming months on Android and iOS.
Eco-friendly routing for developers
With its upcoming features Google also announced that developers will soon be given the option to enable Maps eco-friendly routing. This feature lets the drivers to see and choose the most fuel-efficient route to their destinations. This feature is so helpful specially the delivery or ridesharing services, so they can save fuel consumption. Developers will also be able to select an engine so they can get the estimates fuel or energy efficiency .
