Now, without Aadhaar e-KYC, new cards will not be issued nor will treatment guarantee be given on the old card.
Ayushman Card New Update
E-KYC will be Mandatory
The National Health Authority (NHA) has further tightened the process of issuing Ayushman cards. A new system called BIS 2.0 (Beneficiary Identification System) has been implemented. Under this, a new Ayushman card will be issued only after the beneficiary’s Aadhaar-based e-KYC is completed.
Many Frauds Detected
The government is now using artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent fraud and abuse in the system. So far, 61,932 Ayushman cards have been detected as suspicious across the country. Physical verification of over 48,000 of these cards has begun. If any card is found to be fraudulent, the free medical benefits provided on that card will be stopped immediately.
Restrictions on Adding New Members
Earlier, it was very easy to add new family members to the Ayushman card, but now the government has significantly restricted the process. Arbitrary additions to the card have almost stopped, allowing only those who need it to benefit.
Why These Changes Needed?
The government said that even those who were not eligible were benefiting from the scheme. This was increasing the burden on government treasury and preventing services from reaching those who really needed them. These stringent measures have been taken to prevent fraud and streamline the system.
