Free Aadhaar Card Update Deadline Will Extended Till 14 June

The Centre has extended the deadline for updating your Aadhaar details for free till 14 June 2024. Earlier the deadline was March 14 but the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Tuesday extended the free online document upload facility till 14 June. UIDAI said that the service is available only on myaadhaar portal till 14 June. In myaadhaar portal you can update your Aadhaar card documents.

As per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, individuals those who are having ten years old Aadhaar card must update their proof of identity and address documents. Completion of every ten years from the Aadhaar enrollment date, government urge them to update their Aadhaar card.

The UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has been urging people for an Aadhaar card update, i.e., an update of Proof of Identity (PoI) and Proof of Address (PoA) documents, if they have not done so in the previous ten years. Updating the Aadhaar card documents will help curb Aadhaar-related fraud and provide accurate demographic information.

Documents Required To Update Aadhaar Card

Proof of Identity document, any one of the following:

  • Passport
  • Driver’s license
  • PAN card
  • Voter ID
  • Government-issued ID cards, such as domicile certificates, resident certificates, labour cards, Jan-Aadhaar
  • Marksheet
  • Marriage certificate
  • Ration card

Proof of Address document, any one of the following

  • Bank statements not older than 3 months
  • Electricity or gas connection bills not older than 3 months
  • Passport
  • Marriage certificate
  • Ration card
  • Property tax receipts not older than a year
  • Government-issued ID card, such as domicile certificates, resident certificates, labour cards, Jan-Aadhaar

How To Update Aadhaar Card For Free?

  • If you want to update your name or address on Aadhar card online for free, then first go to the myAadhaar portal.
  • Click on the ‘Login’ button and enter your Aadhaar number, captcha code and click the ‘Send OTP’ button.
  • An OTP will sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number, enter the OTP and click on the ‘Login’ button.
  • Next, click on the ‘Document Update’, after reading the guidelines, click on ‘Next’ button.
  • On the ‘Verify Your Demographic Details’ page, click on the ‘I verify that the above details are correct’ box and click on ‘Next’.
  • Then, upload the ‘Proof of Identity’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents and click on ‘Submit’.
  • After that you will receive a ‘Service Request Number (SRN)’ in your email address. You can track your Aadhaar document update status from the SRN.
  • Your Aadhaar card details will get updated within the seven working days.
  • You can also update your Aadhaar card offline by going to the Aadhaar centre.

Fee For Aadhaar Card Update

Only myAadhaar portal will provide free Aadhaar updates till 14 June. There is no fee for Aadhaar card update online on the myAadhaar portal till 14 June 2024. But, those who want to update their Aadhaar card offline, they will have to pay a fee of Rs.50. They can go to the Aadhaar centres and update their Aadhaar card documents. After 14 June 2024, to update your Aadhaar card documents online on myAadhaar portal, you will have to pay a fee of Rs.25
