Gmail Rolls Out Its New Features | Better Customization Of Results | Get The Filter Buttons To The Inbox View

From the starting of this year Google has been teasing and testing new features, Integrated views and quick access to applications like Google Chat and Google Meet. Last month Google also introduced a new look for Gmail based on Material You redesign. Now, Google roll out all of this in one update to all users.

The integrated view, which has the side panel with Mail, Chat, Spaces and Meet icons is rolling out to everyone who has Google Chat enabled. So the thing is the Material You redesign with new shades for all read emails, compose button and all panels are rolling out to everyone. If you don’t like it, you can change it. Through the Quick settings menu, you can switch back to the old Gmail view .

The new redesign have the filter buttons to the inbox view. This filter button called search chips like ‘Has attachment’ or ‘Is unread’ to the inbox view. Gmail’s search update allow users to easily narrow results to find the specific email. Before this user have to search filters by type in manually or Drop down box was used for advanced search. That means user had to go through extra step by browsing through the results of a query to access the filters, but now with this Google’s new filters you can directly get the filter buttons.

Google also rolling out another feature that is search improvements. With advancement to the search capabilities and suggestions through search filters Gmail has the better customization of results. With this contextual search suggestions improvements Google giving priority to the first name and email addresses while searching for contacts, over the last name. It will also shows personalized suggestions, based on the previous history of conversation, that is how often you interact with a colleague through Gmail. If your two colleague’s name are same and you frequently interact with one of them, this feature will show the colleague’s name whom you interact frequently.

Google said that it is also working on optimizing the emoji experience and Gmail for tablets to ship these features later. Earlier Google introduced new tablet focused features for Drive, Keep, Docs, Slides, and Sheets. It also include drag and drop for files and images across apps and a multiwindow experience for Drive. Google will introduce some of these features to Gmail.
