How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana 2024: Know the Eligibility, Benefits, Documents and Subsidy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2023, announced the launch of PM Surya Ghar Yojana, that aims to provide 300 units of free electricity per month to 1 crore households in the country. With an investment of exceeding Rs 75000 Crore, it aims to reduce power bills, lead to more income, contributes to environmental stability and generate employment for people.
What is PM Surya Ghar Yojana?
PM Surya Ghar Yojana is a free electricity scheme that announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2023. Through this scheme government is promoting the utilisation of solar power by providing monthly 300 units of free electricity to one crore households.
In this scheme beneficiary those who are installing solar panels on their rooftops can get Rs 30000 subsidy for solar panels with capacities up to 2 kW, and Rs 18,000 per kW for additional capacity up to 3 kW. For the systems larger than 3 kW subsidy will be Rs 78000, to ensure substantial financial support for bigger installations.

Eligibility Criteria for PM Surya Ghar Yojana
- Yearly family income should not be exceeding Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
- Applicant’s family did not have a government employee.
- all castes can apply for this scheme.
- Applicants must have an Aadhaar linked bank account.

How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana?
- To apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana, first you have to visit the official website at “pmsuryaghar.gov.in” and register yourself.
- Choose your state and electricity distribution company name.
- Then, enter your name and address, electricity customer number, your mobile number, your e-mail ID, your roof area and how many watts capacity solar system you want, every detail plan you have to fill on rooftop solar form and submit it.
- Login in with your mobile number and customer number and then apply to the rooftop solar.
- Once you got the approval as a customer from government you can get the plan installed through the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
- Next, you have to submit the information of plan and apply for a net metre.
- After the installation of net metres and inspection by DISCOM is completed you can get your commissioning certificate generated from the portal.
- After getting your commissioning certificate, you have to submit your bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal and with in 30 days you will get your subsidy in your bank account.
