How to Find if Someone Using Your WhatsApp Account?

How to Check if Someone Using Your WhatsApp Account?
Review All Linked Devices on WhatsApp
Effortlessly you can check if someone’s using your WhatsApp on another device. You can do it by using the primary device you used to link the other devices and then check the active sessions.
On Android
- You need to access the Linked devices section inside the WhatsApp app to find who’s using your WhatsApp account,.
- Open your WhatsApp, tap on the 3-dots icon present at the top right corner of the screen and a drop-down Menu will open.
- From menu select the option ‘Linked devices.’
- On the Linked devices page, under ‘Device Status’, you should see all the WhatsApp sessions .
- The sessions will show you the last active date and time when WhatsApp was used on different devices that linked to your account.
- From here, you can identify the devices, that you think don’t belong to you. You can also check the last active time to find recently accessed your WhatsApp account on a linked device, the Last active text will tell you the exact time.
On iPhone
- On iPhones from the Settings tab, the Linked devices section can be accessed.
- Open WhatsApp, and go to the Settings and select ‘Linked devices.’
- This page will shows you the all active WhatsApp sessions under “Linked devices” along with last active date and time.
Log Out of WhatsApp Account on Unknown Devices
When you know that your WhatsApp account is active on the other device and if you don’t want the other party to check your messages, then you can unlink the account remotely from the Linked devices menu.
On Android
- To log out of a WhatsApp session on Android, open your WhatsApp app and tap on 3-dots icon from the top right and a drop-down menu will open.
- From menu select the option ‘Linked devices.’
- under ‘Device status’ delect a session.
- Then, ta on ‘Log out’ to remove your WhatsApp account from that device.
On iPhone
- Incase of iPhone, to log out of a WhatsApp session, open your WhatsApp and go the Settings tab.
- Then, select ‘Linked devices.’
- Here, you can select a device you want to log out from.
- Finally, tap on ‘Log out.’
- Once you log out, the session should say, “log out is pending”. When the other person tries to access your WhatsApp through the linked device, the session should disappear from the list.
This is one of the ways you can know that someone was trying to access your WhatsApp account.
Protect Your WhatsApp Account with Two-step verification and App Lock
It is possible that someone sneaked on your phone and linked your account. The easiest way to prevent this from happening is by setting up two-factor authentication, or in WhatsApp it is called it, Two-step verification. You can also enable App lock from WhatsApp settings to protect your account.
On Android
- To enable Two-step verification on WhatsApp on Android open WhatsApp on your phone and tap the 3-dots icon.
- From Menu, select the option ‘Settings.’
- On Setting screen, select the option ‘Account’.
- From Account page, tap on ‘Two-step verification.’
- Then, tap on Turn on and enter the PIN you want to set for verification.
Note: Choose a PIN that you can remembered. Whenever you set up WhatsApp on a new phone, you will need this PIN.
- If you want you can also add an email in case you forget the PIN. If you don’t want to add email, then tap on Skip instead.
App Lock
- Go back to the Settings screen and select ‘Privacy.’
- On Privacy page, scroll down and select ‘App lock.’
- Turn on the Unlock with biometric toggle and use your fingerprint to enable it.
- To be on the safe side, select Immediately in the “Automatically lock” section.
On iPhone
The process of enabling WhatsApp Two-step verification and App lock on iOS is more or less same as on Android.
- Open WhatsApp and go to the Settings.
- On Setting screen tap on ‘Account’.
- Then, tap on ,’Two-step verification’ and select ‘Turn on.’
- Then create a 6-digit PIN that you can easily remember. Enter the PIN again to confirm.
- After that Two-step verification will active on your WhatsApp account.
App Lock
- To further protect your account, go back to the Settings screen and select ‘Privacy.’
- Scroll down and tap on ‘App lock.’
- Toggle on the switch ‘Require Face ID/Touch ID’ to turn it on and select ‘Immediately.’
