In 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Solar Home Free Electricity Scheme. According to this scheme, the government promised to provide 300 units of free electricity. Therefore, subsidies are given for installing solar panels on the roofs of houses.The subsidy amount is Rs 78,000. You can also take advantage of this scheme.

PM Surya Ghar Yojana

PM Surya Ghar Yojana is a free electricity scheme that announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 13, 2024. Under this scheme, 60% subsidy on solar panels for electricity generation up to 2 KW and 40% subsidy on panels for electricity generation from 2 to 3 KW is being given by the government.The limit of subsidy is limited to 3 KW. According to this, 30,000 will be available for 1 KW, 60,000 for 2 KW and 78,000 for 3 kilowatt.

According to the 2024 budget, the government has asked to provide 300 units of electricity to 1 crore families. First you have to apply online for this scheme, which you can do through the official website.Then you will have to provide your bank account details and cancelled check. It may take up to 30 days to get the subsidy.

How to Apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana?

  • To apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana, first you have to visit the official website at “pmsuryaghar.gov.in” and register yourself.
  • Choose your state and electricity distribution company name.
  • Then, enter your name and address, electricity customer number, your mobile number, your e-mail ID, your roof area and how many watts capacity solar system you want, every detail plan you have to fill on rooftop solar form and submit it.
  • Login in with your mobile number and customer number and then apply to the rooftop solar.
  • Once you got the approval as a customer from government you can get the plan installed through the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
  • Next, you have to submit the information of plan and apply for a net metre.
  • After the installation of net metres and inspection by DISCOM is completed you can get your commissioning certificate generated from the portal.
  • After getting your commissioning certificate, you have to submit your bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal and with in 30 days you will get your subsidy in your bank account.
