The much-awaited Asia Cup 2023 is already started from Wednesday 30th August with Pakistan facing Nepal in the opening match in Multan. ODI Asia Cup is set to return from wednesday for the first time since 2018 after being organised in the T20 version last year.
This year, the Asia Cup will be hosted in a hybrid model by Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the tournament will held from August 30 to September 17. The opening match will be held between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan. This year the 15th ranked Nepal making their Asia Cup debut and they placed in Group A alongwith India and Pakistan. This will going to be a huge occasion for Nepal to play against India and Pakistan.
India will start their ODI Asia Cup campaign on September 2 against arch-rivals Pakistan in Pallekele. Nepal playing in the competition for the first time and they will be eager to make an impression in their matches against Pakistan and India. India, Pakistan and Nepal comprise Group A while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are the part of Group B in the Asia Cup.
Going by the format, from the 6 teams of two groups only the top two teams from each group make it to the Super Fours stage from September 6. Unless Nepal stuns one of the teams in the group stage, it will be again going to blockbuster clash takes place between India and Pakistan on September 10. If both India and Pakistan will play according to their potential, then the arch-rivals will once again come face to face in the final and if this happens, then they will play the Asia Cup final for the first time in history.
