Indian Citizenship Sold for Rs 10,000 in West Bengal: Fake Aadhaar and voter ID Racket Uncovered

According to the information of the military intelligence, the police have arrested the person who was making fake Aadhaar cards. Accused Sanjay Sarkar was produced in a Siliguri court on Saturday on fraud charges. His bail application was rejected and he was remanded to police custody for five days. After questioning him, the police are on the lookout for other members of the gang. These brokers made Aadhaar cards for Nepali citizens by charging Rs.10,000 each.
According to sources, many people from Bangladesh and Nepal in Phansidewa area near Siliguri have dual citizenship certificates. This area is the border of Bangladesh. The police also arrested a Bangladeshi and recovered an Indian Aadhaar card from him. The accused has been produced in court on charges of forgery and fraud. 2 computers, 4 fake Aadhaar cards, mobile phones and other documents were seized from his shop. The investigation is going on based on the evidence. Naxalbari SDO Neha Jain said that ‘fake passports are also being investigated, but no evidence has been found in this connection.’
