How to Disable Downloading for an Existing Reel
If you are a creator and want to prevent other Instagram users to download your reels that already uploaded to your account, then go through the steps below.
- Open your Instagram app and go to your profile.
- Go to the reels, that you don’t want people to download and open it.
- To turn off the downloading click on the three dot vertical menu present at the top-right corner of the reel.
- When you click on that menu, you will see the option Turn off downloading, tap on that and that’s it. No one be able to download your reels.
- If you change your mind and want to turn on the downloading, then repeat the above steps.
How to Disable Downloading When Posting a New Reel
Just like turn off downloading option in your exiting Instagram reels, you can also turn off downloading before posting a reel on your Instagram.
- To disable downloading for new reel, when you make or upload an Instagram Reel, tap on Next.
- When you click on Next, Reels Settings page will open with different options. scroll down and select the option Advanced Settings.
- Open Advanced Settings and you will find the section “Downloading your reels”. Under this section you will find the option “Allow people to download your reels.”
- You will see already Toggle on this option “Allow people to download your reels.” Public accounts of users over 18 years of age this option is turned on by default.
- Next, Toggle off the “Allow people to download your reels”by tapping on it and a small pop-up window will appear.
- That pop-up window will come with the option that let you choose to either turn off downloading for all your Instagram reels or only for the reel that you are uploading. You can choose according your choice.
