IPL 2025 Update: IPL May Start from Next Week

IPL could start next week. The Indian Premier League 2025 has been postponed from Friday in view of the military tension between India and Pakistan.

BCCI has announced on Friday that the postponed IPL will start a week later. Now, after the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan, there are hopes that the IPL will be played from next week. It is learnt that the BCCI is planning to start the remaining matches of the postponed IPL from May 15th or 16th.The BCCI is planning to host the remaining matches of the IPL in Kolkata and South India. The BCCI is considering hosting the remaining matches in the southern Indian states of Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, along with the eastern state of Kolkata.

BCCI is Aiming to Complete the Remaining Matches of the IPL

The Indian cricket team will tour England on June 6. Keeping this in mind, the BCCI is aiming to complete the remaining matches of the IPL as per the schedule. Keeping this in mind, it is being said that instead of multiple venues, they are planning to organize the matches in four stadiums to make the travel easier. The remaining matches will be started soon after discussions with the franchises. A final decision will be taken after discussions with the franchises on hosting matches in a small number of venues instead of multiple venues, a senior BCCI official informed.

Remaining Matches of IPL

IPL-2025, which began on March 22, is scheduled to conclude on May 25 in Kolkata. So far, 57 matches have been completed. The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala on the 8th was postponed midway. The result of the said match has not been declared. If the match is resumed from where it was postponed, a total of 17 matches will be played. If that match is cancelled, another 16 matches will be played.

Out of the 57 matches played, Gujarat Titans are at the top with 16 points, while Royal Challengers Bangalore are second with 16 points, Punjab Kings are third with 15 points, Mumbai Indians are fourth with 14 points, Delhi Capitals are fifth with 13 points, Kolkata Knight Riders are in sixth place with 11 points, Lucknow Supergiants are in seventh place with 10 points, Sunrisers Hyderabad are in eighth place with 7 points, Rajasthan Royals are in ninth place with 6 points and Chennai Super Kings are in 10th place with 6 points.
