To help the creator with new money making tools Meta has launched Facebook reels for iOS and Android to more than 150 countries around the world. Like tik tok the shot video making app , Facebook also launch Facebook reels to help creator to earn money.
Short video making app instagram reels was first tested by Facebook in 2020 in India. Reels are basically the 60sec short video that user can enhance it by using special effects and music. This Facebook reel feature is now expands to more than 150 countries including India. Eligible Creator can now embedded ads in their reels.
Reels has been successful on Instagram and it helps company to grow exponentially in countries like India where the tik tok was banned by the Indian government in 2020.
With more than 10,000 followers, minimum 5 videos and 600000 minutes views in last 60 days are the eligibility criteria for the content creator and they are eligible to embedded ads in their Facebook reels. Also the viewers have the new option to tip their favorite artists. The revenue for overlay ads will goes to 55% content creator and 45% to Facebook.
Before this announcement content creator only include ads in their Facebook videos. But the new Facebook reels overlay ads allow users to directly top of their reels marketing bumpers can place.
Facebook will allows the content creators to monetize Facebook reels and will expand to overlay ads like Banner ad and sticker ad. Banner ads overlay at the bottom of the reels and it’s semi transparent and sticker ad can be overlay anywhere on the reel.
Since the launching of Facebook reels, Meta tested different ways for content creator to monetize their project. It includes the Reels Play Bonus Program. In this at least 1000views in any reels in 30days period, Meta will pay the bonus but it is an invite only feature.
Meta also announced that soon viewers are able to send stars to the content creator while watching the reels and for this content creator can get one cent from Meta for every star they received. You can also buy stars form creator while watching the reels.
For reels Facebook also build some direct monetization options through the ad revenue share and fan support. You can also able to share your reels in your Facebook story and also you can add reels to your top of the feed.
