What is a Masked Aadhaar Card?
A masked Aadhaar card is similar to a regular Aadhaar card in appearance but the difference is, in a masked Aadhaar card, the Aadhaar number remains partially hidden. In a masked Aadhaar card, the first 8 characters of the 12-digit unique identification number are hidden and only the last 4 characters of the Aadhaar number remain visible. Other than the Aadhaar number, all the other information like name, gender, address, date of birth, QR code in the masked Aadhaar card remains intact.
A masked Aadhaar card is used as proof of identity and is acceptable while travelling, booking tickets, etc. But to avail government schemes and services you can not use this masked Aadhaar card . To get the benefits of government schemes you have to submit your regular Aadhaar card.
How to Download Masked Aadhaar Card online?
- To get a masked Aadhaar card, you must be registered your mobile number with the UIDAI.
If you want your Masked Aadhaar, first you have to visit the official website of UIDAI at https://uidai.gov.in/ - On the homepage of the website, click on the ‘My Aadhaar’ section, then select the option ‘Download Aadhaar’.
- To get your masked Aadhaar, you can use any one of the method below. The first two ways are exclusively available for the Indian citizens.
- Aadhar Number
If you have your Aadhaar card, then enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number along with your full name and code.
2. Enrolment Number
You can use your 28-digit enrollment number, full name, and pin code to download the card.
3. Virtual ID
You can use your 16-digit virtual ID to download your masked Aadhaar.
- After entering your Aadhaar number/Enrolment ID or Virtual ID, tick the ‘I want a masked Aadhaar’ box.
- Next, select the ‘Send OTP’ option and an OTP will send to your registered mobile number.
- Use that OTP to access your masked Aadhaar.
- If you want you can also use the time-bound OTP (TOTP) generated by the mAadhaar app by clicking the ‘Enter TOTP’ button.
- Next, download your masked Aadhaar.
How to Open a Masked Aadhaar Card?
After downloading the Masked Aadhaar card, you can only be open it, when you enter the password. A masked Aadhaar card is protected with a password. It can only be shared, opened, or used after the password is entered. A masked Aadhaar card password is the first four letters of a user’s name and birth year. For example, if your name is Anita and birth year is 1992, your password will be ANIT1992.
