If you are a resident of Mumbai and you are going to apply for the passport, then here is the relieving news for you. Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey announced in his Twitter handle that no citizen will be called to police station for passport verification except in rare cases.

This moves by Mumbai top cop seen as a relief to a lots of people as the verification process used to be trouble for citizen. According to report in Time Of India, maximum complaints arises during process of passport are related to police verification.
In assurance of passport one of the mandatory step is a police verification and needed to be completed before issuing of passport or in some cases after the issue of passport.
Police verification is done by police station given in the passport applicants address. During the verification police officials verify the details of applicants given by the applicant during apply in application form and for this applicants has to visit the police station.
But after the tweet of new police commissioner of Mumbai Sanjay Pandey people are wonder how the process of police verification will be complete and a user raised a query on Pandey’s tweet asking how would the process of verification happen without going to police station with documents.
To which Pandey responded and said that local police station send a constable who visit residence of citizen and complete the verification process required for issue of passport. He said “Constable who comes to your house does all the work . He is competent. You may get called in only if there is a discrepancy but not as a norm.”
