Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana : Pension Scheme for Unorganised Workers

For old age protection and social security of Unorganised Workers (UW), central government has launched a scheme who aged between 18 to 40 years called Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana. This is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for Unorganised Workers (UW) of India. Under this scheme subscriber would get a minimum assured pension of Rs 3000/- per month after 60 years of age. Unorganised Workers can enroll themselves under this scheme through both online and offline. For online registration you can visit the official site at https://maandhan.in/ . What is Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana?
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for Unorganised Workers (UW) of India. This scheme is made for around 42 crore Unorganised Workers (UW) in country who are engaged as rickshaw pullers, street vendors, mid-day meal workers, head loaders, brick kiln workers, cobblers, rag pickers, domestic workers, washer men, home-based workers, own account workers, agricultural workers, construction workers, beedi workers, handloom workers, leather workers, audio- visual workers or in other similar occupations. Under this scheme beneficiary would have to make financial contributions per month, upto 60 years of age. After 60 years of age beneficiary would get a minimum assured pension of Rs 3000/- per month. In case the worker dies then, their spouse can eligible to earn 50% of the income as a family member. The family pension is only applicable for the spouses of workers.
Eligibility Criteria
- Should be an unorganised worker (UW)
- Must be aged between 18 to 40 years
- Monthly Income should be Rs 15000 or below
Who are Not Eligible
- Those who engaged in Organized Sector (membership of EPF/NPS/ESIC)
- In case of income tax payer

How to Apply
Self Enrollment Online
- For online registration beneficiaries can visit the official website of Maandhan portal or the website of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana at https://maandhan.in/ and select “Click Here to Apply Now”.
- After that, a window will open. Here you will see the two options – Self Enrollment and CSC VLE.
- You can click on the self-enrollment option if you want to apply for it online.
- Then, fill the basic details like your name, contact number, email id, and enter OTP to proceed next
- After that four schemes will appear, you can click on enrolment option and select PM-SYM scheme.
- Next, PM Shram Yogi Maan Dhan Yojana online registration form will apppear, you can fill in all the details as per the form and click on ‘Submit’. But before click on Submit you must check all details.
Enrollment Through Common Service Centre Offline
- Interested eligible Unorganised Workers can visit the nearest CSC centre.
- Before going to CSC, applicants must carry the following documents
- Aadhar Card
- Savings Bank Account or Jan Dhan Bank Account with IFSC Code (Cheque or copy of bank statement or bank passbook).
- Then, payment of initial contribution amount in cash will be made to the VLE or Village Level Entrepreneur.
- For authentication purposes, a VLE will take into account the applicant’s name, aadhaar number, and DOB (date of birth) as mentioned on aadhaar card.
- Then, a VLE will complete the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana online registration by filling up the farmers details like contact number, email address, bank account details, and spouse details (if any).
- The system will calculate monthly payable amount automatically as per their age. Applicants will pay the 1st subscription amount in cash to the VLE.
- After that an Enrolment cum Auto Debit mandate form will get printed. Eligible applicants will sign this form.
- VLE will scan the signed form and upload this on the system.
- A unique Shram Yogi Pension Account Number will be generated and Shram Yogi Card will be printed at CSC.
- After completion of process, beneficiary will get the Shram Yogi Card and signed copy of enrolment form for his record.
- Beneficiaries also receive SMS regularly on activation of auto debit and Shram Yogi Pension Account details.
Exit and Withdrawal
- In case the beneficiary exits the scheme within a period of less than 10 years, then their share of contribution only will be returned to him with savings bank interest rate.
- If the beneficiary exits after a period of 10 years or more but before 60 years of age, then their share of contribution along with accumulated interest as actually earned by fund or at the savings bank interest rate whichever is higher.
- If the beneficiary has given regular monthly contributions but died due to any cause, then their spouse will be eligible to continue the scheme subsequently by payment of regular contribution or he/she can exit by receiving the beneficiary’s contribution along with accumulated interest as actually earned by fund or at the savings bank interest rate whichever is higher.
- If the beneficiary has given regular monthly contributions but in case he/ she become permanently disabled due to any cause before 60 years, and unable to continue under the scheme, then their spouse will be entitled to continue the scheme subsequently by payment of regular contribution or he/ she exit the scheme by receiving the beneficiary’s contribution with interest as actually earned by fund or at the savings bank interest rate whichever is higher. After the death of beneficiary as well as his/her spouse, the entire corpus will be credited back to the fund.
