Transfer WhatsApp chat history now available in WhatsApp beta version. It will take some times to roll out to get to all users. To start the transferring process of WhatsApp chat history you need to be on Android 5.0 and above and for iphone users you need to be on iOS 15.5 and above.
Meta CEO in a post he wrote ‘we are adding to WhatsApp the abiliyto securely switch between phones and transfer your chat history, photos, videos and voice message between Android to iphone while maintaining end to end encryption’. He also added ‘This is the top requested feature. We launched the ability switch from iphone to android last year and now adding android to iphone as well’.
WhatsApp data is backed up in Android to the Google drive and iOS WhatsApp data is backed up to the iCloud and between these 2 there is no compatibility. You will be able to transfer your data in Apple’s Move To iOS app and this app is available on Google Play Store. Move To iOS only you can use when you setting up a new iphone.
If you click on WhatsApp data option in move to iOS the data will be in a format that compatible with iOS. Apple or WhatsApp will not see any data due to end to end encryption. After data is moved, when you launches WhatsApp for the first time in your iPhone, it will detect your data and decrypt it and all your chats will be restored in iphone including your chat history, videos and photos of WhatsApp.
