WhatsApp Channels, 2023 : A One-Way Broadcast Tool For Creators And Organizations

WhatsApp has announced its new feature, called Channels. With this new feature updated users can follow specific channels without messing up their personal conversations. Meta also claimed channel feature will provide a private way to receive an important updates from people and organisations.

WhatsApp Channels feature may be very helpful, especially for company owner and content makers who continually market their business through the WhatsApp. The Channels message will be show up in a new tab called Updates, where users will be able to see updates from the Channels, find Status and channels you choose to follow. This Update tab will show data that is separate from the chats with your family, friends, and communities.

Channels are one way conversations, only admin of a channel can send message and users won’t be able to reply to those messages. Only admin of the Channels can send photos, videos, text message and sticker to its members. Admins can also poll on these Channels. Users can join the Channels through an invitation link.

• The Channels feature of the WhatsApp will be first available in Colombia and Singapore and it will be rolled out in more countries over the coming months.
• Using this feature only the Admins of the Channels will be able to send broadcast messages. Admins have also control over their audience. They can block screenshots and forwards from their channels and also will have the ability to choose who may follow their channels.
• Users can search for their favorite channel through browsing a directory and get regular updates by following it. Also users can get invited to a channel through an invitation link. They can get links that might be sent through chats, e-mail, or posted online.

Privacy Of WhatsApp Channels

• WhatsApp Channel is a private tool, where phone numbers and profile images of channel administrators will not be displayed to followers. To protect their privacy, user information joining a channel are always kept hidden.
• Following a channel, does not reveal the user’s phone number to the admin or to the other followers.
• By default channels will not be end-to-end encrypted because the aim of Channels is to reach a wide audience. But Company will store channel history up to 30 days on their servers.
• Only the end-to-end encryption of private messaging will not be impacted. But the individual chats, messages received within a channel will not be end-to-end encrypted.
• The Admins of the Channels will be able to send broadcast messages. Admins have also control over their audience. They can block screenshots and forwards from their channels and also will have the ability to choose who may follow their channels.
• Admins could be choose who will follow their channels because they want their channels to be discoverable in the directory.
