WhatsApp Use Your Mic Even You Are Not Use Your Phone!company says it’s an Android bug
Recently, a user claimed that WhatsApp was using the microphone on Android phones even when the app is not in use and closed. WhatsApp did respond to this but it’s claiming that issue is a bug in the Android system and issue is on Google’s end, not the messaging app.
WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging app across the globe. Years after the launch of this Meta owned app, it is still the mostly used messaging service. India is having the largest user base for whatsApp around 490 millions currently. Apart from just messaging WhatsApp is used for the variety of purposes that includes audio call, video call, sharing photos, videos and documents, for business etc. WhatsApp uses its the phones microphone when a call is made or any voice message is recorded. But recently it has been found out that WhatsApp using your phone microphone even you are not using it and app is closed.
A WhatsApp user shared the screenshot of the WhatsApp microphone activity on a Pixel phone and it showed that the mic was used at frequent intervals and when the app was not in use, also with no activity from the user’s side. But the WhatsApp respond to this claim and told this issue is a bug in the Android system and issue is on Google’s end, not the messaging app. Also said they have asked Google to investigate and remediate the issue. WhatsApp also reassured their WhatsApp users that they have full control over their mic settings.
