2025 Long Holiday List Announced; Know When will Schools, Offices and Banks are Closed

In a few days, the new year is coming. Even before the new year, the government has published the list of holidays falling in the coming year. Go through this article and know how many holidays are there in 2025.

There will be 17 Gazetted Holidays and 34 Restricted Holidays in 2025. In total, the employees will get 41 holidays apart from weekly leave. There are a total of 52 Sundays next year. Also, the second and fourth Saturdays will be 26 Saturdays off. A typical government employee will get about 98 to 100 holidays (including gazetted, Sundays and Saturdays) in 2025. For bank employees, this number may increase from 105 to 110.

Most holidays fall in January, April, August and October. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, Makar Sankranti, Lohri, Pongal and Republic Day will be celebrated in January. April marks the beginning of the New Year, Mahabir Jayanti and Good Friday. Similarly, Rakhi Purnima, Independence Day, Janmastami will fall in the month of August. The holiday starts from Gandhi Jayanti in October. This month there will be holidays on Dusshera, Diwali and Chhat.

In 2025, employees will also get longer holidays. There will be three to four consecutive days off in January, March, April, August and October. The stock market will be closed for 14 days in 2025, apart from regular holidays on Saturday and Sunday. This means there will be a 14-day holiday in the stock market as well.

Know About the Long Holidays

  • 11th and 12th January Saturday and Sunday holiday. If leave is taken on 13th January then you will get leave on 14th for Makar Sankranti. In such a case, you will get long weekend leave from 11th to 14th January.
  • Holi falls on 14th March and Saturday and Sunday on 15th and 16th February. In this way one can go on a long journey for three days. Similarly, 29th and 31st March are Saturday-Sunday and 31st March is Eid-ul-Fitr holiday. This means that three holidays will be taken together.
  • There will be two long weekends in April. April 12, 13, 14 and 18 are Good Fridays and April 19 to 20 are Saturdays and Sundays. After the Independence Day holiday on 15th August, there will be Saturday and Sunday holidays on 16th and 17th August.There will be a holiday for Eid-e-Milad on September 5, while Saturday and Sunday will be holidays on September 6 and 7.
