Oil companies and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas have set August 31 as the deadline for LPG users to complete their e-KYC. If you failed to complete your e-KYC within August 31, then your gas connection may be affected and new cylinder bookings may be stopped.
The main objective of the government and the oil companies is to curb fake and invalid gas connections. In many cases, it has been seen that multiple connections are registered under the same name or the connection remains active even after the death of the beneficiary. Through e-KYC, the identity of the genuine user is verified to ensure government subsidy benefits reach directly to the right individuals.
- Bookings may be Blocked: Online or offline cylinder bookings of users who have not completed e-KYC after 31st August may be blocked.
- Subsidy may be Stopped: If your biometric or identity verification is not completed, then the government subsidy available may be stopped.
- Connection May Be Affected: If this process is incomplete for an extended period, your connection may be temporarily suspended.
LPG e-KYC Online/Offline Process
Gas cylinder users can complete their e-KYC online or offline in a very easy way:
Online: Download the official mobile app of your Indane, Bharat Gas or HP Gas company. Log in to the app and complete e-KYC in a few minutes using Aadhaar number and face authentication or OTP. You must have an Aadhaar card linked to your mobile number.
Offline: Visit your nearest gas agency office. Take your Aadhaar card and gas passbook and get it verified using a biometric machine. Apart from this, biometric authentication can also be done with the help of the delivery agent at the time of cylinder delivery at home.
