Strict Ticket Checking at Railway Stations and on Trains From October 1: Original ID Proof Is Mandatory
If you are planning to travel by train in the coming days, then there is an important news for you. The Central Railways is launching a special and strict ticket checking campaign from October 1 to October 31, 2026. During this period, ticket checking will be stricter than before in trains and stations. Special attention will be given to passengers travelling on concessionary fares, reservation quotas, e-passes or PTO (Personal Travel Order).
Strict Ticket Checking in Railway stations & on Trains from October 1st
Original ID Proof Mandatory: During this special and strict ticket checking campaign, passengers will have to carry their original ID Proof along with the ticket. Failure to produce the ID proof may lead to questioning the validity of the ticket.
If more than one person is travelling on one ticket, then at least one passenger must have a valid ID proof at the time of checking. Otherwise, all of them will be considered as travelling without a ticket and may be fined or taken action.
It will be verified at the time of travel whether the passenger is actually entitled to the benefit of the concession or quota. Merely showing the ticket will not be sufficient.
Railway employees and their families travelling on e-pass or concession fare should ensure before travelling that their e-pass or PTO is properly converted to Authority for Travel and that they have the original identity document with them.
This campaign will not only be for reserved tickets but also for unreserved (general) tickets. Suspicious tickets will be checked on the spot through the TTE app.
