LPG Transfer Rules Changed

If you are planning to move to a new house or city, then it is important for you to know that the government has recently revised the rules for LPG connection transfer. You should inform your gas agency when you change your residence or city. If your new location falls within your existing agency’s service area, there is no need to transfer the connection; you will only need to provide proof of address to update your details.

New LPG Connection Rules

New LPG Connection Rules for Move to New House in Same City

  • If you are simply moving to a new house within the same distributor’s area, you only need to update your address.
  • If your home falls under the service area of another agency, the existing distributor will issue you an e-CTA (Electronic Customer Transfer Advice) code, which will be valid for three months. You do not have to surrender your cylinder or regulator; you can take them with you to your new address.

New LPG Connection Rules for Traveling to Another City

  • If you are planning to move to another city or an area under a different distributor, you will need to go to your current distributor to surrender your cylinder and regulator.
  • The agency will issue a Transfer Termination Voucher (TTV) and refund the full security deposit you paid earlier.
  • Upon reaching the new city, you can apply for a new connection by presenting this Termination Voucher.

New Government Rules for switching from LPG to PNG

  • The 30-Day PNG Surrender Rule: Under the amended policy, if you get a PNG connection, you must terminate your domestic LPG connection within 30 days of the pipeline gas activation. Holding both a subsidized LPG and a PNG connection simultaneously is generally not permitted.
  • The Transfer Voucher System: If you are forced to give up your LPG cylinder for a PNG connection, the government provides a “Transfer Voucher”. If you later move to an area without PNG infrastructure, you can use this voucher to reactivate your LPG connection without starting fresh with new paperwork or paying additional security deposits.
