  • QR Code Privacy: For all QR code-based payments, the mobile number of the customer will completely disappear and will not be shown to the merchant or recipient after the transaction completes.
  • Username Based UPI IDs: Instead of generating a mobile number-based Virtual Payment Address (VPA) by default like “1234567890@ybl”, applications must make username-based UPI IDs like “name@upi” the default setup for all new registrations.
  • Broad Masking: The directive also requires stricter masking rules for other customer facing interfaces, ensuring UPI IDs and bank account numbers are partially hidden from plain view whenever appropriate.
